Intensive farming
Nowadays, the increasing population and decreasing cultivable land have forced the whole world to think about intensive farming. Intensive farming means less land and more productivity. In this type of farming, more people work on less land, more fertilizer is used, which increases the productivity of the crop by producing more on less land, and grains are made available to the growing population.
In intensive farming, we can grow any type of crop in any season, for which we have to use a huge amount of fertilizer. By using chemicals more than necessary, there is a high possibility that within a few years, the fertility of the soil will end and the field will become barren.
The increasing population is pushing the world towards urbanization, which is reducing the area of cultivated land every year. Decreasing cultivable land is forcing farmers to produce more and more and a farmer can do so only by using fertilizers.. The increasing population increases the demand for food grains, which can only be met through intensive farming.
Extensive Farming
In such countries whose area is very large and where the population density is low, extensive farming is seen there. For example countries like Russia, the USA, Canada, etc.
In such countries, the per capita availability of land is very high and the productivity per unit of land is low. In this type of farming, very few people are engaged in the work of farming in a very large land area and fertilizer is also used in small quantities.
In this type of farming, the productivity of land does not decrease because the use of fertilizer is less, but with the increase in population, such farming will become outdated.
Commercial farming
Both crop cultivation and animal husbandry come under commercial farming. In traditional farming, the farmers cultivates only those crops which they needs in daily life. Earning profit from farming is not the aim of traditional farming. But in commercial farming, farmers do farming to earn profit and cultivate only those crops which are in demand in the market and from which good income can be earned.
Coffee farming, tea farming, banana farming, papaya farming, sugarcane farming, etc. are examples of commercial farming.
Mixed farming
When more than 1 crops are produced at the same time in the same place it is called mixed farming like mustard cultivation in a wheat field, radish cultivation in a banana field, chili cultivation in a papaya field, And so on.
If the cultivation of a crop and animal husbandry is done together on a land area, then it is also called mixed farming.
